Chick List Family Adventure in Walnut Creek
April 9, 2020 - April 16, 2020
A Family Adventure in Walnut Creek – Sponsored by the Walnut Creek Business Association
While many communities are encouraging residents to put a teddy bear in their window for families to do a ‘bear hunt’, the Walnut Creek Business Association is sponsoring a slightly different option: A Chick Hunt. This idea is the creative genius of Tracy Houze, GM at Der Dutchman.
From Thursday, April 9 to 16, 2020, participating businesses in Walnut Creek will have 8 ½ x 11 brightly colored cards on their property. Each card will display a chick.
Families are invited to walk, bike, drive a vehicle or a buggy, and travel through Walnut Creek looking for the chicks. All chicks will be visible from the street. You do not need to get out of your car to find the chicks. In addition to the chicks being found on WC Business Association participating properties, you will find some chicks at interesting spots around town.
To track their findings, you can pick up a “Chick List” at Der Dutchman Bakery or at the Commercial & Savings Bank drive through window in Walnut Creek. The official Chick List will list the participating businesses. If you prefer, simply use your own paper and create your Chick List, writing down the name of the business and where you saw the chicks on their property as you traveled along.
The list of participating businesses will be available on the Der Dutchman Restaurant and Coblentz Chocolates Facebook pages. There will be 30 chicks hidden around Walnut Creek. You only need to find 15 to be eligible for goodie bags and to enter the contest for the grand prize drawing.
As you find the chicks, check them off on your “Chick List.” Be sure to write where you saw the chicks on each property. For example: At Carlisle Printing on the Fence. At Carlisle Inn in a tree.
When you have found 15 chicks, bring your completed list to Der Dutchman Restaurant and redeem it for one goodie bag for each child participating in your Chick Hunt.
You can either have ONE PERSON from your party come into the bakery to turn in the list and collect your goodie bags (1 per child) or you can call 330-893-2981 and ask someone from the Der Dutchman staff to bring the goodie bags to your vehicle.
But there’s more!
By adding the parents’ contact information to the sheet and putting it into the white ballot box at Der Dutchman, you will be entered into a drawing which will take place when normal business operations resume. Winner of the drawing will receive:
- Dinner for 4 at Der Dutchman
- Gift basket from Coblentz Chocolates
- Family pass to The Farm
